Traveling When You Can't Travel - Chapter 2
AND some advice for making your next journey happen for cheap when you can
Capture Delight
Traveling when you can't travel just yet…
Summer is here, but not everyone has a grand adventure on the calendar.
What we all DO have is an opportunity to capture and collect mini-moments of delight TODAY.
Delight: to please someone greatly.
What pleases you greatly?
Slow down enough this summer to be present to that, wherever your days lead.
Slow the pace.
Be expectant.
Linger just an extra few seconds.
Take a photo.
Be present…to your delight.
And to the Presence.
May you find wonder in the beauty of your own delight, and savor what uniquely satisfies your senses and curiosity.
Breathe deeply.
Isn’t that why we travel?
There is something new and breath-taking in every day.
Notice. Delight. Smile. Savor.
Happy Travels!

Which Credit Card Bonus Should I Take When I Am Ready to Travel Again?
Scenario: Amy, I just need to get away. I need to know a trip is on the calendar. The credit card bonus game is too much for me to wrap my head around right now. All I want is one amazing journey. I’m thinking Europe….anywhere in Europe.
Just me.
Early 2025.
How can I get there for cheap?
Apply for the Barclays Aviator Red Mastercard.
Make one purchase and pay the $99 annual fee.
Just like that, you’ll immediately gather 60,000 American Airline miles.
Decide where you want to travel in Europe.
Decide on travel dates between January 10 and March 14, 2025 (AA off-peak season)
Use those miles to purchase a one-way ticket to your dream European destination.
Then use additional miles to purchase a separate one-way ticket home from any other location in Europe. (one beauty of using miles is the ability to purchase one-way tickets for the same cost as round-trip…so take advantage and explore more places!)
Guess what…you’re going to Europe!
Flying during off-peak season on American Airlines to Europe from the US can be incredibly cheap.
Example:
$99 Barclaycard annual fee
+22,500 AA miles one-way from US to Europe
+22,500 AA miles one-way from Europe to US
+$100 or less in taxes and fees
= Happy Traveling YOU!
You can even find tickets to Europe for 19,000 AA miles one-way when you’re flexible with dates and locations. For the best deals, purchase your tickets 7-9 months before travel. And remember, all AA frequent flyer flights are 100% refundable up until the day of travel, so if your plans change, you’ll get your money back.
*I want to note that the Barclaycard Aviator Red is not my favorite card for daily use, and I would not suggest making this one your only card if you dream of ongoing travel. It is, however, the best card for the scenario above.
Happy Travels!
